Bangladesh Garments Accessories & Packaging Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) started its operation in the year 1989. Garments Accessories & Packaging (GAP) Industry is acting as a backward linkage industry of RMG sector. This sector earned about US$ 8.22 billion (deemed & direct export) for the country during the year 2022-23, out of which about US$ 1.0 billion was direct export. The exported countries were Netherlands, South Africa, Pakistan, India, Middle East, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Italy, Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan, Germany, Austria etc. Investment of this sector is about Taka 35 thousand crore and value addition is about 40%. After all, it is the first backward linkage industry of RMG sector. Our export target is earmarked US$ 12.00 billion by the year end of 2025. More than 7 lac employees are working in this sector of whom 20% are women. Now global packaging market size is about US$ 700 billion. GAP sector can earn US$ 7.0 billion by capturing 1% market share. There is also opportunity to export to emerging countries like: Myanmar, African nation etc. Garments Accessories sector can extend its contribution from 17% to 20% in achieving US$ 100.0 billion target by 2031 of RMG sector.

Members of BGAPMEA produces almost all the garments accessories & packaging items for export oriented industries of the country like: readymade garments, pharmaceuticals, ceramics, leather goods, jute goods, frozen food, shoe, fruits & vegetables, handicrafts etc. Members of BGAPMEA manufacture all sorts of accessories such as: Corrugated carton, Honeycomb carton, Wax carton, Poly bag, Hanger, Gum tape, Back board, Neck board, Hang tag, Price tag, Bar code, Collar insert, Butterfly, Collar bone, Sewing thread, Tape, Elastic, Printed and woven label, Zipper, Sticker, Button, Draw-cord, Draw-string, Interlining, Tissue paper, Padding, Quilting, Embroidery, Stopper, PP-band, Velcro tape, RFID, Security tag, Buckle, Leather patch, Mould etc.

Now this sector is able to supply packaging & accessories products within 24 hours after receiving the order. We also deliver the products to RMG factories in our own transportation. As a result, it reduces not only the lead time but also save our valuable foreign currency. To achieve the US$ 100.0 billion target of RMG sector by 2031, GAP sector is likely to be exported proportionately, if the sector gets policy support and cooperation from the Government.

Most of the members of our Association belong to Small & Medium Enterprises (SME). This Association is run by a Secretariat under guidance of an elected Board of Directors through franchise for a term of 02 years. This association is a member of the Asian Packaging Federation (APF) & also the World Packaging Organization (WPO).
